The first Train-the-Trainer program was offered in March 2011 as part of a World Bank project. The three month intensive course covered the material necessary for these students to develop their teaching and training skills. Subjects included Educational Psychology, Introduction to Tourism, Tourism Training, Measurement and Evaluation, Proposal Writing and completed a Work Experience component training staff at some of the hotels on the south east coast.

The aim of this course is to develop more trainers for the Zanzibar tourism and hospitality industry. Graduates from the pilot course have ended up applying their skills within their working environment, training staff at hotels, and have been employed at the JTTI.
