Our Students

The JTTI accepts 14 new students every year on to the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality. Most students join the institute to learn and develop skills necessary for the local tourism and hospitality industry.

The Training Restaurant 'Alibi's Well'

The Diploma course has a practical focus and students have the opportunity to develop and improve their practical skills in Food Production and Customer Service every day when they open and run the in-house training restaurant 'Alibi's Well'.

Train-the-Trainer Course

In 2011, the JTTI offered the first Train-the-Trainer course to local employees who wish to develop their teaching skills and enter the tourism and hospitality industry as trainers.

Short courses

JTTI offers different short courses. Every morning, up to 80 students attend the English classes which are taught by volunteers from the volontourism organisation African Impact.

History of the JTTI

The Jambiani Tourism Training Institute opened in 2007 and since then has offered tourism and hospitality education to many locals that wish to enter the tourism and hospitality industry and develop their skills to improve their employment opportunities and support their families.

Our Courses

The JTTI offers a range of courses to local students. Every year, up to 25 students are enrolled on the 2-year Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality. Furthermore, the Institute offers short courses in English, IT and tourism and hospitality-specific courses. In 2011 the Insitute offered the first Train-the-Trainer course to provide students with the opportunity to develop their teaching and training skills.

The guesthouse is open!

It’s called Alibi’s Well and we are on Airbnb, Booking.com and soon Trip Advisor. The bungalow has three rooms. One large upstairs suite with bedroom and living room, large bathroom and deck. Then two double rooms downstairs with private bath and deck as well. Awesome breakfast included!! This property is 1 minute walk from the beach.

The JTTI depends on donations as well as volunteers from all over the world that provide their time and services to teach the students on the Diploma and short courses.
