History of the JTTI
The Jambiani Tourism Training Institute opened in 2007 and since then has offered tourism and hospitality education to many locals that wish to enter the tourism and hospitality industry and develop their skills to improve their employment opportunities and support their families.
Our Courses
The JTTI offers a range of courses to local students. Every year, up to 25 students are enrolled on the 2-year Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality. Furthermore, the Institute offers short courses in English, IT and tourism and hospitality-specific courses. In 2011 the Insitute offered the first Train-the-Trainer course to provide students with the opportunity to develop their teaching and training skills.
'Alibi's Well' - the training restaurant
The students on the Diploma have the opportunity to develop and apply the skills learned in the classroom when they open and run the training restaurant and kitchen 'Alibi's Well'. The restaurant is open every day for lunch and also offers themed Friday Dinners to customers.
How you can help us
The JTTI depends on donations as well as volunteers from all over the world that provide their time and services to teach the students on the Diploma and short courses. If you have a background in tourism or hospitality or would like to make a financial contribution to the project, please feel free to contact HABS.
